    For his performance in Rome David Garrett, recognized and fascinating «super star» of the international concert,  chose Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto and the Carmen Suite by Bizet. By each concert Garrett and his Stradivarius violin thrilled audiences around the world, thanks to engaging and excited interpretations, an extraordinary technical ability and impressive virtuoso performances of rock songs, as well as classical violin. On the podium of the ‘Orchestra Santa Cecilia’, will be a woman, Alondra de la Parra, young musician born in New York from Mexican parents, the current music director in charge of Australia’s Queensland Symphony Orchestra — Tchaikovsky over the following program

About my Violin Concerto, he writes that, in general, to know what my works, they are distinguished by their inconsistency, complete lack of taste, coarseness and barbarism. As for the Violin Concerto starts not bad, but the more it goes on, the worse it. At the end of the first movement, he argues, it does not play the violin, but braying, stride, roars. Even the Andante begins happily, but soon turns into the description of a few wild Russian party where are all drunk and have faces trivial, disgusting. «Listening to music by Tchaikovsky came to my mind that there is stinky music (stinkende Musik)». Is it true, that it is a curious criticism? «, Eduard Hanslick, the famous German critic of the Neue Freie Presse

    Concerto for Violin and Orchestra D major op. 35 is the only one violin concerto by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (last major settlement before a long and painful creative crisis). It was created at the end of one of the most productive periods of Tchaikovsky, it had seen the composer conclude, in the ‘arc of a three-year period’, Piano Concerto in B flat minor, ballet “Swan Lake”,  Fourth Symphony and opera “Eugene Onegin”.

    It was completed early in 1878 in Clarens, near Geneva, in collaboration with the violinist Iosif Kotek, a friend and pupil of Tchaikovsky, who had given advice on the implementation of technical gig and had to be the first performer, brought by the same Tchaikovsky, but last moment gave up because of technical difficulties (it was still the pioneer in a private performance with the composer at the piano). Another great concert pianist, famous Leopold Auer who was offered the composition convinced that he could not read the score, announced its irreproducible and, in turn, refused to play.

    The first performance took place so in three years, December 4, 1881 in Vienna, when violinist Adolf Brodsky with great difficulty agreed to run the concert. Tchaikovsky dedicated the score. The orchestra was managed by Hans Richter. On this occasion the concert was cut in the Neue Freie Presse by the famous German critic Eduard Hanslick, whose vision of what music was never far from that of the Russian composer.

    Only with subsequent executions in London and then in the rest of Europe concert obtained a complete success.

    The first movement, Allegro moderato begins with a short cadenza in which it is proposed a theme of exciting freshness;  then naturally exhibit a new short subject, almost operatic, rhythmically agitated. As well wrote Giorgio Pestelli, «the fact is that Tchaikovsky led the living room, the feminine fantasize Onegin’s aristocracy frame of the Concerto, leaving capricious rhythmic patterns, the insistent triplets, the virtuosic scales, the task of replacing him development sonata and the shading of a contrasting base. ‘

    The median Canzonetta has absorbed a start, in which the soloist enters with a theme «very expressive», a bit sad, a bit shiny. The second theme is rather dramatic and energetic. The recapitulation of the first part follows the conclusion symmetrically with elements taken from the introduction.

    Without interruption immediately attacks the Finale, Allegro lively. It follows the circular form of the rondo, alternating all affirmation of the idea two previous themes popular mold. But now is the soloist takes the leading game in hand: it is his debut at a rate of extraordinary virtuosity.

    Alondra de la Parra

    Alondra de la Parra is the first Mexican woman who conduct an orchestra in New York.

    In 2003 at the age of 23 y.o. he founded the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas.

    Her leadership has earned respect throughout the world, and she was also called «a remarkable director» by Plácido Domingo. De la Parra has directed more than 20 new works, including some of the cheering of the history of music as Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Mahler.

    David Garrett

    David Garrett, stage name of David Christian Bongartz, was born in Aachen on September 4, 1980. He is a German-American violinist and composer.

    And particularly  appreciated as a musician by Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim.

    He has become known by critics for his rock music repertoire adapted to the orchestra and, in particular, on the violin, which tends in his cover to replace the guitars of artists such as Brian May, Angus Young, Slash, Kirk Hammett, Jimmy Page or Kurt Cobain, but also the voices, like Axl Rose or Michael Jackson. By the similar way, accompanied by guitars and batteries, he has led more rock tones to the famous classical pieces.

    His father is a German lawyer and his mother, Dove Garrett, is an American ballet dancer. He took mother’s surname used comenome art, chosen by his parents because it is «more pronounceable.»

    At 11 years old he worked with the Hamburg Philharmonic, and in 1994, fifteen years old, subscribes an agreement with Deutsche Grammophon for engraving of different works as a soloist. In 2004 he graduated the Juilliard School of Art in New York.

    In 2008 he entered the Guinness Book of Records for having executed the “Flight of the Bumblebee” for one minute and six seconds.

    With his album “Rock Symphonies”,2010 , he became known for the international audience; Garrett’s discs combines classical genre with rock, fusing pieces by composers such as Vivaldi and Beethoven with others like U2, Nirvana, Metallica and Aerosmith.

    About his musical instrument: he has eleven yearsold when he received his first violin Stradivari. David Garrett has also a Guadagnini violin,1772; in 2007, after his performance at the Barbican Centre in London he fell on violin, damaging it severely, but he could reuse it again for a short time later.

    October,12, 2012 he released his new work titled “Music”, anticipated by the cover for the violin “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay.

    In 2013 he has his debut as a film actor in the movie “The Devil’s Violinist”, where he was the protagonist of Niccolò Paganini.
